There are a lot of people who are still comfortable with Adobe Photoshop 7. Reason being is that it was easier to use, simple and performance wise much faster than currently available CS versions. I personally visited one photographer who was using Photoshop 7, When I asked him why he don’t prefer latest CS version then his reply was that he is comfortable with photoshop 7.0 version. History of Adobe photoshop7.0:-

Adobe Photoshop 7.0 was released in March 2002 for Mac and Windows, roughly eighteen months after the release of version 6.0.

Version 7.0 introduced a number of useful features including the Healing Brush. It also introduced an upgrade to the text which made all text fully vector. This allowed designers to resize their text with ease without losing any of the quality.

A new file system was also added to version 7.0 which allowed designers to find the images they were looking for with increased ease. Graphics that were in a folder could be easily renamed using the Batch Rename feature and engineers added a number of other useful commands that made working with large quantities of images easier than ever.

Along with the Healing Brush tool, the Patch Tool was also added. Users had the ability to create their own custom brushes from their own designs too.

Perhaps one of the most important changes within Adobe Photoshop 7.0 was the optimization of the application for Mac OSX. Previously, Mac users running Photoshop on OSX found themselves frustrated when the application would crash in the middle of their work. This problem was solved in version 7.0 as the application was released for Mac OS ‘Classic’ and Mac OSX simultaneously.

1.Menu bar

One of the basic elements of Adobe Photoshop is the menu bar, A menu bar is a user interface element that contains selectable commands and options for a specific program. In Windows, menu bars are typically located at the top of open windows. The menu bar is used to open and save files, adjust the canvas size, access some of the editing tools, open and close various windows, and more. The menu bar consists of 10 menus: File, Edit, Image, Layer, Type, Select, Filter, View, Window, and Help. Each of those main menus has additional submenus for related options. Most of what’s available in the menu bar can be accessed in other ways, too, like via keyboard shortcuts, right-click menus, or with separate menus located within other windows like Tools, Layers, Timeline, etc. Some options, however, have to be accessed by the menu bar.

2.Options bar:-

The Tool Options bar is used to choose settings for each tool (e.g., Brush type, Mode, Opacity, Flow). The Options Bar is the horizontal bar that runs underneath the Menu Bar in Photoshop. You can turn it on and off through the Windows menu, so if you don’t see it on your screen, you definitely want to turn it on with Window > Options. Options on the bar change depending on which tool is currently chosen and your choices will remain in effect until you change them. Like the palettes, the options bar can be dragged to a different part of your screen. You can move the options bar in the workspace by using the (A) Gripper bar, and you can dock it at the top or bottom of the screen. Tooltips appear when you position the pointer over a tool. To show or hide the options bar, choose Window > Options.

3. Dock and undock panels:-

A dock is a collection of panels or panel groups displayed together, generally in a horizontal or vertical orientation. You dock and undock panels by moving them into and out of a dock.

• To dock a panel, drag it by its tab into the dock, at the top, bottom, or in between other panels.
• To dock a panel group, drag it by its title bar (the solid empty bar above the tabs) into the dock.
• To remove a panel or panel group, drag it out of the dock by its tab or title bar. You can drag it into another dock or make it free-floating.

4.Toolbox:-

     The toolbox contains the main tools for working on images. Click any tool to select and use it.

A small arrow next to a tool in the toolbox indicates that the tool also has additional options available. In Photoshop, click and hold your mouse on a tool to see its options. 

5.Palettes or  Panels:-

Palettes are groups of tools used to edit and manipulate your image. The palettes of Photoshop7.0 give you access to groups of related tools. Photoshop contains over two dozen palettes that can be shown or hidden by using the Window menu and selecting the palette you wish to reveal. Palettes with a checkmark beside their names indicate that they are open in your Photoshop workspace and selecting those checkmarks palettes will hide them. The following table shows how to access the various Photoshop 7 palettes in both Windows and Mac systems:
